Why should my Pet wear an identification Tag?
According to the Control of Dogs Act 1986, Dogs must wear visible identification. Pets wearing a tag have a 100% success rate of being returned to their owner. £500 is paid towards vetinary fees if your pet is found ill or injured with VETALERT cover (provide with lifetime cover). Tag does not show personal details of the owner, simply shows a unique identification number. All of your contact numbers (to include alternative numbers medical files, details of your vet and all other vets in the UK) are held on a secure database, whereby in case of a lost pet, the owner and pet will be re-united sooner. This information would be impossible to fit on a normal tag.
Why have a tag when a Micro-chip is more permanent?
It is advisable that all pets are Micro-chipped and wear visible identification because all animal welfare groups’ advice is that the pets have both; however microchips can become lost inside your pets body becoming untraceable by machinery made to detect them. They are also then returned much quicker to their owners without having to take the pet to a vet, dog warden or police station to be scanned. *Charges can be incurred if the aforementioned happens and it also adds to the stress of the pet if this is needed.
Why does my pet need the protection of VETALERT?
Because if your pet is found ill or injured VETALERT will:
- Tell the finder the name and the location of your vet Or as a back-up we hold a file of all vetinary surgeries in the UK
- Holds a medical file for your pet, so we can inform the vet of any medical conditions, allergies and treatments.
- Promise to pay up to £500 of emergency vetinary treatment (non payable by the owner) if your pet is found ill or injured so that your pet can be treated straight away without any fuss or delay.
